Orange is the New Black star Uzo Aduba has signed with UTA, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned. She previously was with APA.
Her breakout role as Crazy Eyes on the Netflix dramedy has earned her two Emmy Awards so far, as well as a solo SAG win and a Golden Globe nomination. The stage veteran will show off her musical theater chops Dec. 3 as Glinda the Good Witch on NBC’s The Wiz Live!, alongside Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, Ne-Yo, Amber Riley and David Alan Grier. She made her Broadway debut in 2007 as star of the musical play Coram Boy and later was part of the 2011 Broadway revival of Godspell (THR’s review credited her with providing “the show’s first burst of raw emotional power”). In 2010 she appeared in the original hip-hop musical Venice at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City.
In film, Aduba currently is in production on Lakeshore’s adaptation of Philip Roth’s novel American Pastoral, starring Ewan McGregor in his directorial debut. She recently wrapped on the indie dramedy Tallulah, starring Ellen Page and Allison Janney, and on the racial integration drama Showing Roots, in which she stars opposite Maggie Grace.
Aduba continues to be represented by Lainie Becky at Management 360 and by attorney James Adams of Schreck Rose.
