Orlando Bloom has rented his 3,248-square-foot Hollywood Hills home for $16,500 a month, according to real-estate blog Trulia. The four-bedroom, four-bath pad is located on a 3/4 acre lot and comes with a pool, swim machine, spa and chef’s kitchen.
And did we mention the reinforced security system with gates and cameras?
Bloom bought the property in 2007 for $2.75 million and was famously burglarized in July 2009 by a group of Calabasas teens. The fame-obsessed cult became the subject of Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring, starring Emma Watson, Leslie Mann and Gavin Rossdale.
Real-life ring leader Rachel Lee -- who was released on parole for good behavior in March after serving a year and four months in prison -- didn’t target the lush single-story home because of Bloom. Said Nick Prugo, Lee’s cohort, in an admission to Vanity Fair’s Nancy Jo Sales in 2010, “Rachel wanted Victoria’s Secret model clothes,” referencing Bloom’s then live-in girlfriend, Miranda Kerr.
In total, nearly half a million dollars worth of the couple’s high-fashion label clothing, luggage and art -- including Bloom’s Rolex watch collection -- was stolen. The actor subsequently upgraded the property’s security system and had it up for rent for less for $18,000 in 2011.
Bloom later turned down a cameo in the Coppola film, saying, “It was too close to home for me to want to be involved.” He now rents a townhouse on Manhattan’s Upper East Side with wife Kerr and their 2-year-old son, Flynn.
