'Orphan Black' Actor Jordan Gavaris Joins Matthew McConaughey in 'The Sea of Trees'
Gus Van Sant's film has wrapped production
Jordan Gavaris, of Orphan Black fame, has been added to the cast of Gus Van Sant's The Sea of Trees, which stars Matthew McConaughey and Ken Watanabe.
Based on the original screenplay written by Chris Sparling, Sea of Trees has wrapped principal production, filming on location in the Kanto region of Japan, including Tokyo, Kanagawa and Shizuoka prefectures as well as within Aokigahara (aka The Sea of Trees) located at the foothills of Mt. Fuji in Japan’s Yamanashi prefecture. The film also shot in Massachusetts beginning in late July on location in Purgatory Chasm, Ashland State Park, Blackstone State Park, Douglas State Park, F. Gilbert Hills State Park and the Worcester area.
The first image, which was released during the Toronto Film Festival, shows the Interstellar star bloodied and crouched in the dark Japanese forest.
Standing in the background of the image is Watanabe, who stars alongside the Interstellar actor in the film, centering on two strangers who meet in the mysterious dense forest at the base of Japan’s Mount Fuji, where where people often go to commit suicide. The two lost men embark on a journey of reflection and survival.
Gil Netter produced the film along with Kevin Halloran, F. Gary Gray, Brian Dobbins, Allen Fischer and Sparling.
Gavaris plays Felix on hit sci-fi drama Orphan Black, and previously appeared in TV series Cracked and Degrassi: The Next Generation. He's repped by Gary Goddard Agency and Echo Lake Entertainment.
