Oscar de la Renta-Hosted Soiree Raises Money for Families in Need
The designer, Kelly Florio Kasouf and Elizabeth Street collaborate to bring together L.A.’s most stylish moms to benefit Baby Buggy.
Celebrity mom’s and their kids were out to mingle and enjoy some family fun at the Oscar de la Renta boutique on Melrose. A percentage of the proceeds from Tuesday night’s event benefited the non-profit organization Baby Buggy.
Kelly Florio Kasouf, mom and author of The Super Adventures of Sophie and the City, which sparked the collaboration with Oscar de la Renta to design the limited edition “Sophie Party Dress,” greeted guests and read her book for the children in attendance.
“This really hits home because we’re all moms, and we're all so fortunate that we’re able to have lots of stuff for our children. It’s really good bringing all these brands together,” said Kasouf.
Other guest in attendance included Julie Bowen, Bree Turner, Nia Vardalos, Tiffani Thiessen, Julie Moran, Sarah Jane Morris, Jaime Ray Newman, Natalia Safran and Caliborne Swanson. The children also were treated to sweet treats, a paper doll coloring station and balloon twisters who created lady-bug headbands, wearable jet-packs and boats.
Since its creation by Jessica Seinfeld in 2001, Baby Buggy has donated more than six million items to families in need around the country. The organization is dedicated to providing necessities to families who are less fortunate. Some proceeds from the “Mommy and Me” party will help to support deserving families.
“The Sophie Party dress” is a limited edition and features de la Renta’s exclusive watercolor iris print. Customers who purchase the $295 dress online receive a complimentary, signed copy of The Super Adventures of Sophie and the City.
