Oscars 2015: Rain Soaks Red Carpet, Staff, Stars' Handlers (Photos)
A sea of umbrellas could be seen as staff and publicists attempted to keep the stars red-carpet ready.
Rain soaked the red carpet outside the Dolby Theatre on Sunday afternoon as the stars and nominees headed into the 87th Annual Academy Awards ceremony.
A sea of umbrellas could be seen as handlers attempted to keep the stars dry and camera-ready.
Event staff donned plastic rainwear as they ushered talent out of limos holding huge black umbrellas, while publicists found themselves soaked in wet clothes as they attempted to bring their clients down the carpet.
When the rain first started, for five minutes there was a gap between two of the tarps about halfway down the carpet. As Oscar-goers made their trek toward the venue, they got dripped on before the crew fixed the issue.
Meanwhile, rain also accumulated on the red carpet, creating puddles and turning the carpet into a darker, maroon color.
Staff also were using huge poles with something resembling squeegees attached at the end to catch rain on the main tent, but they weren't terribly effective.
The situation made the carpet more crowded than usual.

Eddie Redmayne and Ryan Seacrest also weren't immune to the rain, nor were Kelly Osbourne and Ross Mathews.
