Oscars: Academy Prepares for Rainy Day on the Red Carpet

The L.A. area has been hit by showers throughout the day.

There seems to be something about rain and awards ceremonies this year.

Following similar measures taken during last month's Golden Globe Awards when rain hit the L.A. area, the team behind Sunday's Academy Awards ceremony is preparing for a potentially wet day outside of the Dolby Theatre.

"We have a tent up for arrivals and the Governors Ball afterward," an Oscar rep told The Hollywood Reporter.

It was raining when the red carpet began. There had been an 80 percent chance of precipitation for the arrivals.

The ceremony, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, kicks off at 5:30 p.m.
