Oscars: Chris Rock Mispronounces Charlize Theron's Name
Theron and Emily Blunt were called to the stage to present the award for best original screenplay.
Academy Awards host Chris Rock ended his highly anticipated opening monologue on Sunday night by calling the show's first presenters — Emily Blunt and Charlize Theron — to the stage, but slipped up and seemingly mispronounced Theron's name in the process.
"Please welcome Emily Blunt, and somebody whiter — Charice Theron!" Rock appeared to say as the two actresses walked onstage.
Twitter users were to quick to call out Rock, some likening his blunder to John Travolta's mispronunciation of Idina Menzel's name at the 2014 Oscars, at which he referred to her as "Adele Dazeem."
