Oscilloscope Picks Up Hannah Fidell's 'A Teacher'
The film, starring Lindsay Burdge and Will Brittain, debuted at Sundance and will play at SXSW.
Oscilloscope Laboratories has acquired North American rights to Hannah Fidell’s feature directorial debut, A Teacher, which premiered last month at the Sundance Film Festival and will play at the upcoming SXSW Film Festival.
Oscilloscope said it plans a theatrical, video-on-demand and digital release later this year.
A Teacher stars Lindsay Burdge as a high school teacher who begins a dangerous affair with a student, played by Will Brittain.
“A Teacher is a remarkably assured debut and demonstrates two immense new talents, one in front of and one behind the camera. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome the film into O-Scope’s ranks and present it to the world,” Oscilloscope’s David Laub and Dan Berger said.
The film was produced by Kim Sherman and Fidell. The deal was negotiated by Laub and Berger with ICM Partners, which reps Fidell and Burdge.
