Outdoor jumps for 'DockDogs'

Outdoor Channel said Monday that it will debut "DockDogs," a new seven-part original series highlighting the canine dock-jumping competition, in October.

"DockDogs" will center on competition between North America's top dock-jumping teams in both the dock-diving (long jump) and the extreme vertical (high jump) competition. Top qualifiers in each region will be invited to compete in the National Championship finals. The series will feature East, West, and Midwest qualifying events, culminating in the National Championship Finals.

"Outdoor Channel identified an interest among avid hunters and anglers for a sporting dog show and delivered 'DockDogs,'" Outdoor Channel chief operating officer Tom Hornish said. "Our goal is to provide exclusive original programming that isn't available anywhere else."

The DockDogs event will be televised exclusively on Outdoor Channel.

Added DockDogs CEO Grant Reeves: "In 2005, we aired portions of this competition and there was such a strong interest that we knew we had to produce an entire series exclusive to this sport."

"DockDogs" will be produced by Fischer Prods.
