Open Road Films Takes U.S. Rights to Dax Shepard's 'Outrun'

The romantic action comedy also stars Kristen Bell and Bradley Cooper.
Open Road Films has acquired all U.S. rights to the romantic action comedy Outrun, starring, written and co-directed by Dax Shepard, who plays a former getaway driver living in the Witness Protection Program.
The plot kicks into gear when Shepard’s character agrees to drive his girlfriend, played by Kristen Bell, to Los Angeles only to find themselves pursued both by the feds, led by Tom Arnold, and his former gang, headed by Bradley Cooper.
The cast also includes Beau Bridges, Kristin Chenoweth, David Koechner, Michael Rosenbaum, Joy Bryant and Ryan Hansen. David Palmer co-directed with Shepard.
Outrun was produced by Andrew Panay with Nate Tuck, Kim Waltrip and Jim Casey. Exclusive Media Group has acquired the international rights.
The deal was negotiated on behalf of Open Road Films by CEO Tom Ortenberg, general counsel and executive vp of operations and business affairs Elliott Kleinberg, and senior vp of acquisitions Ben Cotner. Jamie Feldman and Linda Lichter of Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Adler and Feldman negotiated on behalf of the filmmakers.
