Outsider feathers 'Nest' for U.S.
Comedy premiered at Toronto film festivalCOLOGNE, Germany -- Outsider Pictures has picked up all U.S. rights for Daniel Burman's "Empty Nest" from Bavaria Film International.
The bittersweet comedy features a middle-aged couple that find themselves alone after their last child leaves home. They head off on a comic journey from Buenos Aires to Israel.
After premiering in Toronto, "Empty Nest" went to the San Sebastian International Film Festival, where it won the best actor prize for star Oscar Martinez as well as taking the cinematography nod for Hugo Colace.
Recent acquisitions by L.A.-based Outsider include Giuseppe Tornatore's mystery-thriller "La Sconosciuta" (The Unknown Woman) and the Danish hit comedy "Adam's Apples."
