Ovation Acquires 'So You Think You Can Dance'
The network will air Seasons 6-8 of the Fox dance competition series beginning this August.
Ovation has snagged exclusive off-network rights to the summer dance competition series, So You Think You Can Dance.
Through a deal with Twentieth TV, the network will air Seasons 6-8 beginning in August. Ovation will air the show’s sixth season in a strip from Friday to Monday, followed by Seasons 7 and 8, the latter of which debuts on Fox in May.
“As the only network dedicated to arts culture, So You Think You Can Dance is a natural for Ovation,” said Kris Slava, svp, programming at Ovation. “Dance as an art form is having an exciting resurgence, thanks in large part to this series. This summer, we’re giving dance fans a chance to catch up with, or relive some great moments.”
So You Think You Can Dance launched on Fox in 2005 and has since won seven Emmys, including five for choreography. The show was created by Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe and is produced by 19 Entertainment and dick clark productions.
