'Oz the Great and Powerful' Latest Hollywood Movie to Hit Imax U.K. Theaters
The movie, starring James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams will unspool in Imax 3D in 21 theaters across the U.K. and Ireland.
LONDON – Disney's Oz the Great and Powerful, starring James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams is the latest Hollywood blockbuster to go large.

Giant screen movie theater operator Imax said it has teamed with the studio to digitally re-master the movie into its Imax 3D format for release beginning March 8. 2013.
The Sam Raimi-directed picture imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved wizard character.

It details the story of a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics who is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant land of Oz where he thinks he’s hit the jackpot with fame and fortune there for the taking.
Then he meets three witches, Theodora (Kunis), Evanora (Weisz) and Glinda (Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting.
"Disney and Sam Raimi’s films have transported millions of moviegoers to magical places and we’re looking forward to having his imaginative vision of the Oz story as part of our 2013 film slate," said Greg Foster, chairman and president of Imax Filmed Entertainment.
The movie will roll out in 21 theaters across the U.K. and Ireland.
Oz the Great and Powerful is produced by Joe Roth and written by Mitchell Kapner and David Lindsay-Abaire.
Grant Curtis, Philip Steuer and Palak Patel are serving as executive producers.
Other blockbusters to get the Imax treatment recently include Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters 3D, Skyfall, Wrath of the Titans and Prometheus.
