'The Pack,' 'Little Sparrows' Find Distributors at AFM
Two U.S. acquisitions by boutique distributors signal that deal memos are already being signed as AFM gets under way in Santa Monica.
Indomina Releasing picked up all North American rights to the French horror film The Pack, while Film Movement snagged rights to the Australian family drama Little Sparrows.
A selection at Cannes and L.A.'s Screamfest, The Pack stars Yolande Moreau, Benjamine Biolay and Emilie Dequenne in the story of a girl who picks up a hitchhiker while driving through the French countryside only to wind up held captive in a roadside diner by a crazy woman harvesting her blood to feed a pack of flesh-eating ghouls. Franck Richard wrote and directed the film.
Verane Frediani, Christophe Louis and Frank Ribiere produced, and Priscilla Bertin, Jeremy Burdek, Nadia Khamlichi and Adrian Plitowski were executive producers. Indomina exec Rob Williams negotiated with Films Distribution's Nicolas Brigaud-Robert on behalf of the filmmakers.
"Franck Richard delivers a disturbing, gory horror that will leave audiences with a chilling aftertaste," said Indomina CEO Jasbinder Singh Mann. "The Pack expands the range of genre-based content of the Indomina brand."
Indomina has also recently acquired Griff the Invisible, Wasted on the Young and True Legend.
Directed by Yu-Hsiu Camille Chen, Sparrows depicts the difficult choices of a mother and her three daughters as they face their last Christmas together. The film had its international premiere in competition at the International Rome Film Festival Tuesday night.
Umedia repped the sale.
Film Movement also recently picked up the SXSW film Helena From the Wedding.
