Singer Jacoby Shaddix is going under the knife to remove a nodule on his vocal cord, forcing the hard rock band to pull out of the UPROAR Festival after only playing five of the scheduled 30 dates.

Papa Roach singer Jacoby Shaddix is going under the knife to remove a nodule on his left vocal cord, forcing the alt-rock band to pull out of the UPROAR Festival tour.

"It's no secret that I've been having issues with my voice lately," Shaddix said on Friday. "I was hoping to be able to go out there and kill it on this tour by resting and doing vocal exercises, but my voice has just gone out on me. I hate to let our fans down, but unfortunately surgery is the only way to fix it."

The band had played only five of the scheduled 30 dates on the Rockstar Energy Drink-sponsored rock tour, which also includes Shinedown, Godsmack, Staind and Adelitas Way. The tour hits Holmdel, NJ today and carries on until Sept. 30 when it wraps in Albuquerque, NM.

Producer John Oakes said in a statement that they were disappointed that the band was going to miss the rest of the tour, but "Jacoby's health is the priority and we wish him a speedy recovery."

The group's next album, The Connection, is set to be released on Oct. 2.
