Paramount: DreamWorks boosts till

2007 boxoffice: $1.49 bil | Market share: 15.5%

They might have a rocky relationship: The Paramount brass and the DreamWorks team spent most of the past year feuding and then publicly making up, but the expectation persists that DreamWorks co-founders Steven Spielberg and David Geffen will extricate themselves from their relationship with Viacom this year. Still, the fractious Paramount family did mange to make beautiful boxoffice music together, as Paramount vaulted from fifth place in 2006 to first in market share in 2007. While the separate DreamWorks Animation contributed the studio's top grosser in "Shrek the Third," DreamWorks and Par partnered on the Fourth of July weekend record-breaker "Transformers," and DreamWorks turned out the winning trifecta of "Norbit," "Blades of Glory" and "Disturbia."
