Designers Alexis Mabille and Gareth Pugh came out to celebrate the young fashion designer

French fashion scene stars including Alexis Mabille, Anthony Vacarello and Gareth Pugh came out to congratulate ANDAM award winner Iris van Herpen, whose avant garde designs have found fans in Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Tilda Swinton, at a private dinner Saturday night in Paris.

London-based designer Mary Katrantzou had just arrived from New York, where she is working on costumes for the New York City Ballet with Sarah Jessica Parker. “She’s been incredible and so generous and just seeing her wear my dress on the opening night — it left me on a high,” Katrantzou said. Parker wore a long-sleeved embroidered gown to the Ballet’s fall gala Tuesday night.

Models Caroline de Maigre, Daria Werbowy and Devon Windsor, designers Charlotte Dellal and Renzo Rosso, photographer Mario Testino, Chanel muse Leigh Lezark, Swarovski’s Nadja Swarovski and Kering CEO Francois-Henri Pinault (that’s Mr. Salma Hayek to you) were also on hand for the fete. DJ Mia Moretti made an appearance, as well as Saint Laurent star Aymeline Valade, The Face season one coach Coco Rocha and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Gigi Hadid.

The ANDAM award was set up to recognize and give support to young designers in a city known more for its established houses than it’s young talent. Van Herpen will be awarded €250,000 ($342,000) and the mentorship of Pinault, who oversees powerhouse luxury brands including Gucci, Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen.

“It changed everything, totally the course of what I’m doing,” said Pugh, who won the award in 2008 and was thrilled to celebrate Van Herpen’s prize. “It’s nice to feel part of this fellowship sort of thing, and to be in amongst these kinds of people that I really respect. It afforded me the opportunity to come to Paris, which is very expensive!” He showed his most recent catwalk collection to rave reviews last February.

“We’re always in the studio, so it’s quite a treat to be sociable, it’s quite fancy,” he added.

Even though she’s famous for her Irish jig, Rocha made an early exit in spite of promises of late night dancing. Some guests headed to Caviar Kaspia, but the model bowed out for a late night Jean Paul Gaultier fitting. She’d flown in earlier in the day especially for the show, where dozens of top models that have worked with the designer over his career are expected to walk in his final show Saturday night.
