Paris Hilton has been charged with felony drug possession following her Aug. 27 arrest in Las Vegas.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police arrested Hilton last Friday after a motorcycle officer pulled over the heiress and her boyfriend, Cy Waits, on the Las Vegas Strip. The couple was stopped after the cop smelled marijuana smoke wafting from their SUV, which was being driven by Waits.

While detained and being questioned about the alleged marijuana possession, Hilton reportedly dropped a vial of cocaine from her purse. She was subsequently charged with possession of a controlled substance -- .8 grams of cocaine.

The D.A. will file the case today, reports celebrity news website TMZ.

The report also relays that police found a tablet of prescription medication Albuterol and Zig Zag wrappers, which are commonly used to roll joints.

Hilton copped to owning the Albuterol but claimed that the purse and most of its contents -- including the cocaine -- did not belong to her, saying she had borrowed the clutch from a friend. Upon further questioning, Hilton said she mistook the coke for gum.

Although she has since changed her story about the purse, reportedly telling friends it was indeed hers but had been left in the possession of a pal.

Regardless, cops say they found .8 grams of coke in the purse, and Hilton has been charged with a felony.
