Park Chan-Ok's 'Paju' to open Rotterdam
Film originally launched at CineMart co-production marketCOLOGNE, Germany -- "Paju," the second feature from fast-rising South Korean director Park Chan-Ok, will open the 39th Rotterdam International Film Festival on Jan. 27.
"Paju," which debuted in Pusan this year, is the tale of a complex relationship between a teenage school girl and the husband of her older sister. The project was originally launched at Rotterdam's co-production market CineMart.
Park's debut, "Jealousy Is My Middle Name," won Rotterdam's Tiger Award in 2003.
Park and the film's stars Lee Seon-Gyoon and Seo Woo are expected to attend the Rotterdam premiere.
"Paju" was produced by Myung Films and released in South Korea by MK Pictures. M-Line Distribution is handling world sales.
The Rotterdam International Film Festival is set to run Jan. 27-Feb. 7.
