Participant Media, Active Voice combat obesity

Screenings of 'Food, Inc.' doc are part of initiative

Participant Media is joining forces with Active Media for a year-long social action program, funded by a $248,000 grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, to raise issues about food access and combat childhood obesity.

The program is one component of Participant's social action campaign for the Oscar-nominated documentary "Food, Inc.," including screenings of the film in 30 communities nationwide, plus panel discussions and advocacy engagement to increase the availability of affordable healthy foods for all Americans.
 
This initiative aims to support the national movement to reverse epidemic rates of obesity among children and adolescents, and it focuses on African-American, Latino and lower-income communities where food issues are most acute.
