Participant Media Launches Sebastian Lelio's 'A Fantastic Woman'
The Beverly Hills-based production company partnered with Fabula and Germany's Komplizen for the drama.
Argentinean filmmaker Sebastian Lelio has just wrapped on his latest film, A Fantastic Woman.
Participant Media, which recently won big at the Oscars with Spotlight, financed the film with Fabula and Germany's Komplizen Film.
A Fantastic Woman is co-written by Lelio and Gonzalo Maza and follows Marina, played by newcomer Daniela Vega, a waitress trying to make a living moonlighting as a nightclub singer, after the sudden death of her older boyfriend. Principal photography was just completed in Santiago, Chile.
Juan de Dios Larrain and Pablo Larrain produced the project with Janine Jackowski and Jonas Dornbach from German banner Komplizen Film, with Particpant's Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King acting as executive producers.
"I see A Fantastic Woman as a film of aesthetic splendor, narrative vigor, tension and emotion. I'm really excited about working with Daniela Vega, a very talented actress and singer, a force of nature, who is surrounded in the movie by some of the best Chilean actors," said Lelio.
A Fantastic Woman marks Participant’s third collaboration with Fabula, a partnership that includes Pablo Larrain’s Oscar-nominated NO.
