Sydney Pollack, Kadeem Hardison and Beau Garrett are joining the cast of the Patrick Dempsey-Michelle Monaghan romantic comedy "Made of Honor" for Columbia Pictures.

Paul Weiland will direct from a screenplay by Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont based on an original script by Adam Sztykiel.

Neal Moritz is producing through his Sony-based Original Film shingle. The story revolves around Tom (Dempsey) and Claire (Monaghan), who have been platonic friends for 10 years. He's a serial dater, while she wants marriage but hasn't found Mr. Right.

Just as Tom is starting to think that he is relationship material, Claire gets engaged. When she asks Tom to be her "maid" of honor, he reluctantly agrees so he can attempt to stop the wedding.

Pollack will play the father of Dempsey's character; Hardison and Garrett have supporting roles.

Sony's Amy Baer and Adam Milano are shepherding for the studio. Shooting began last week.

Pollack is repped by CAA and the law firm of Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer Austen Mandelbaum & Morris.

Hardison, who most recently appeared in "Biker Boyz," is repped by UTA and Untitled Entertainment.

Garrett, who next appears in "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer," is repped by ICM, Sean Fay at 1 Management and attorney Jason Hendler.
