Patil joins Yash Raj Films
Former MTV exec takes up youth focus at YRFNEW DELHI -- Top Mumbai-based banner Yash Raj Films has appointed Ashish Patil to the newly created position of business and creative head, focusing specifically on youth-centric movies.
Patil will join YRF from 1 April after ending his stint at Mumbai-based joint venture Viacom18 (which runs MTV India among other ventures) where he was recently promoted to the newly created position of senior VP, new ventures and GM, youth movies in January.
Earlier, Patil was MTV India GM and senior VP, creative and content and has served with the channel for 12 years in various positions.
In his new position at YRF, Patil will report to YRF vice-chairman and well-known director Aditya Chopra who supervises the banner's overall creative vision. YRF is headed by Aditya's father, chairman Yash Chopra, one of India's most successful filmmakers.
“Yash Raj Films is almost a university of filmmaking, with legendary expertise. Aditya Chopra had a vision of creating a youth studio label concentrated on youthful movies; and now, my passion about making movies takes me to Yash Raj,” said Patil.
