Paul Feig Co-Producing 'Ronna & Beverly' For Sky Atlantic
Created by writers and performers Jessica Chaffin and Jamie Denbo, the Bridesmaids director's Classy Productions is on board for the six-part comedy chat show.
LONDON – U.S. stage comedy chat show Ronna & Beverly, created by writers and performers Jessica Chaffin and Jamie Denbo, is coming to the U.K.'s small screens.
British satcaster BSkyB's channel Sky Atlantic HD has commissioned a six-part show featuring the "well-preserved fifty-somethings" following a successful pilot in the U.K., featuring interviews with Mad Men star Jon Hamm and Episodes actor Stephen Mangan.
The show is a co-production with Bridemaids' director Paul Feig’s Classy Productions in the U.S. and comes on the heels of a series of stage shows that toured the U.K. and the U.S..
The comedians will bring "their unique brand of no-nonsense wisdom and, mostly unwanted, advice" to the satcaster's channel, due to broadcast from August this year.
“I've been a huge fan of Jamie and Jessica for years and am thrilled Sky Atlantic HD has allowed us to unleash Ronna & Beverly over the [British] airwaves," said Feig. "It's all part of my evil plan to export more funny women to the world."
Ronna and Beverly are played by Chaffin and Denbo, respectively, whose resumes boasts writing credits spanning Entourage, Episodes, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Sex And The City.
Chaffin, Denbo and Laurie Feig are also producing.
Matthew Perry, Russell Brand, Dan Stevens, Miranda Hart, Simon Bird, Aflie Boe and Katy Brand all showed up for the U.K. theater tour.
Ronna & Beverly is a co-production between Hat Trick Productions in the U.K. and Classy Productions exclusively for Sky Atlantic HD. The series producer is Stu Mather. Executive producers are Feig and Hat Trick's Jimmy Mulville, and the series was commissioned by Sky head of comedy Lucy Lumsden.
