Paul Ryan Casts Early Vote for Donald Trump
"I am supporting our entire Republican ticket," he said on 'Fox and Friends.'
House Speaker Paul Ryan says he's voted for Donald Trump, but he's still not going to campaign with him.
Tuesday on Fox News' Fox and Friends, Ryan said he used early voting to cast his ballot for the Republican presidential nominee last week.
"I stand where I stood all fall and all summer," he said. "We need to support our entire Republican ticket."
Trump is campaigning Tuesday in Ryan's home state of Wisconsin, but the speaker won't be joining him. Ryan said he hadn't been aware of Trump's travel plans until 10 minutes before the Fox interview and would be in Indiana then. Trump's travel plans had been announced at least a day in advance.
Ryan and Trump have had a rocky relationship and Ryan has previously said he wouldn't campaign for Trump. When asked if he'd changed his prior position, Ryan said he hadn't.
"I haven't changed anything," he said. "I'm just focusing on my primary responsibility, which is saving our House majority. I've already got a long schedule that has been long in place fighting for House Republicans and also Senate Republicans because that's what the Speaker of the House does."
Ryan did say "we've worked with our nominee" on health care, national security, tax reform and other policy proposals.
