Agency has feature in the worksWMA has signed soccer great Pele for representation in all areas. As part of the move, the agency is packaging a biopic feature film about the three-time World Cup winner's life.
WMA president Dave Wirtschafter lauded Pele as "one of the greatest and most iconic athletes of our time." He added, "We look forward to helping him develop his already global brand throughout the entertainment and sports communities."
Dubbed the "king of football," Pele's life is ripe for cinematic treatment. He reportedly was responsible for a 48-hour cease-fire during a civil war in Nigeria so that people could watch him play. He officially was declared a national treasure by the government of his native Brazil.
WMA will work closely with Sao Paulo, Brazil-based Prime Licensing to create global marketing and business opportunities for the retired star. Prime Licensing holds exclusive rights to license the Pele brand worldwide.
