People on the Move: SAG Lawyer Joining Fox
SAG vet Laura Beedy Ritchie moves to the other side of the table in 10 days.
Laura Beedy Ritchie, a SAG deputy general counsel, is leaving the guild after eight years and joining Fox’s labor relations department. Next week will be her last at SAG, and she starts the following Monday, Dec. 13, as a director of labor relations at the studio.
Ritchie will report directly to Ann Calfas, evp labor relations and employment litigation. Calfas took up those reins just five months ago, from Dean Ferris, who transitioned to consulting status, to be followed by retirement in spring 2012.
Ritchie, who declined to comment for this story, has been practicing law for 15 years. She’s a graduate of USC and University of San Francisco Law School. The legal eagle is said to be excited to start her new gig, albeit bittersweet about saying her goodbyes at the guild.
