Production industry veteran John "J.J." Johnston has been named executive director of the Production Equipment Rental Assn.

The 15-year-old organization represents about 170 member companies in North America, Europe and Asia.

Johnston will continue as executive director of the nonprofit New York Production Alliance, a role to which he was appointed in November.

"His mission includes building bridges with the creative community to ensure that our members are reliably anticipating and serving their needs," said PERA president Pat Patin, also co-owner and vp of Texcam.

In 2007, Johnston completed a 33-year career at Kodak's entertainment imaging division, where he held positions in sales, marketing and management in cities including Hollywood, Atlanta, Dallas, New York and Rochester, N.Y. He is an associate member of the American Society of Cinematographers.
