Peter Horton Inks Development Deal at UMS

The former "Thirtysomething" actor is locked in with NBC's sister studio for two years.
Universal Media Studios has inked a two-year development deal with actor-turned-executive producer/director Peter Horton.
The announcement, made Monday by NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt, entails writing, producing and directing new fare for the studio and its sister network, NBC.
“I have long admired Peter’s multiple talents and his knack for making good projects even better,” said Greenblatt, whose network picked up -- and ultimately passed on-- Horton's Reconstruction pilot earlier this year. “His creative skills are recognized by his industry peers because he has big and unconventional ideas that make for very inventive and entertaining television. Peter will be an important asset as we continue to re-build our studio.”
Horton got his start in the entertainment industry on screen, breaking through as a regular on critically-acclaimed series Thirtysomething. More recently, the actor has appear on the CW's Life Unexpected and HBO's In Treatment.
Behind the camera, Horton produced and directed the pilot of Grey's Anatomy at ABC when the network was in reinvention mode much the way Greenblatt's NBC is today. The multi-hyphenate, repped by WME, also counts The Philanthropist, Lone Star and Six Degrees among his producing credits. As a director, he's helmed episodes of Dirty Sexy Money, Once and Again and The Shield.
