Peter Jackson to Get Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame
The Kiwi director who brought 'The Lord of the Rings' and 'The Hobbit' to the big screen will be honored on Dec. 8
With the release of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies only weeks away, director Peter Jackson can look forward to a relatively comfortable end to 2014. Well, apart from picking up honors and awards, including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Oscar-winning New Zealand filmmaker is set to be honored with the star on Dec. 8, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced Monday, with his star set to be placed outside the Dolby Theatre, the venue for the Academy Awards.
"We are very happy to honor such an esteemed filmmaker as Peter Jackson with a star on the Walk of Fame," said Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies. "His groundbreaking and award-winning films are part of the legacy of larger-than-life, Hollywood-style entertainment that is beloved the world over."
A huge wealth of stars who have appeared in Jackson's two Tolkien trilogies will be in attendance, including Andy Serkis as guest speaker, as well as Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lilly, Lee Pace, Luke Evans, Richard Armitage and Elijah Wood.
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies will be released on Dec. 17.
