Peter Traugott to Head Newly Launched Keshet Studios

Traugott and his producing partner Rachel Kaplan most recently had a development pact with Universal Television.

Keshet International is launching a U.S.-based studio and has tapped prolific producer Peter Traugott as head of domestic scripted operations, the company announced Thursday.

Traugott — who with producing partner Rachel Kaplan, both formerly of TBD Entertainment — will oversee development, production, packaging, promotion and sales of Keshet International's scripted fare in the U.S. Traugott will serve as president of scripted, while Kaplan will be executive vp. Both will report to Keshet International CEO Alon Shtruzman.

The duo join Keshet Studios from TBD Entertainment, the production company the duo founded that was previously based at Universal Television. Traugott and Kaplan join Atar Dekel, Keshet Studios' head of business development, and Keshet Media Group CEO Avi Nir.

"Keshet Studios was a natural progression for our expanding business, and we are thrilled to have an official home base in the States with executives who share our programming sensibility," Shtruzman said. "Peter and Rachel both have tremendous instincts for developing and producing compelling and innovative scripted television. Coupled with Avi's creative vision and the prolific Israeli-International pipeline, Keshet Studios is set to significantly grow our U.S. slate."

The studio launch comes as Keshet International continues to mine its global formats in the U.S. following the success of Prisoners of War — which was adapted to Showtime's Emmy darling Homeland — as well as Tim Kring's USA Network mini Dig, FX's Tyrant and more.

While at TBD Entertainment, Traugott and Kaplan had eight pilots produced and two ordered to series in its first four years. Before that, Traugott was president of television at Brillstein Entertainment Partners, where he developed and produced more than 25 series, including Samantha Who and Ringer. Before that, he was director of programming at Fox, where he oversaw Party of Five, The Simpsons and Married … With Children, among others.

Keshet Studios is repped by WME and Marc Korman in the U.S.
