PGA warms up to 'Truth' with Kramer award
EmptyThe Producers Guild of America will honor the environmental docu "An Inconvenient Truth" with the 2007 Stanley Kramer Award.
The award annually recognizes "work that dramatically illustrates provocative social issues." It will be presented to the film's producers at the 18th annual PGA Awards, set for Jan. 20 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Century City.
Producers on the Al Gore- starring "Truth" include Laurie David, Lawrence Bender and Scott Z. Burns, along with co-producer Lesley Chilcott. Executive producers include Jeff Skoll, Davis Guggenheim, Diane Weyermann, Ricky Strauss and Jeff Ivers.
" 'An Inconvenient Truth' has the very rare combination of subject matter that affects every person on the planet and immerses its audience in a totally engaging film experience," awards co-chairs Hawk Koch and Mark Gordon said. "The filmmakers involved with this project committed themselves in an extraordinary manner and created a piece of cinema that will live on for generations."
Last year, the Kramer award went to the boxing drama "Million Dollar Baby."
"I am thrilled that 'An Inconvenient Truth' will be included in the group of other distinguished and important movies that have been honored by the Stanley Kramer Award," director-producer Guggenheim said.
