Pitbull and Ke$ha's Tour of Australia Is Canceled
The trek was due to start Oct. 30 at Brisbane Entertainment Centre.
Pitbull and Ke$ha’s planned tour of Australia has been scrapped a little more than two weeks out from the first show.
The five-city trek had been billed as the year’s “hottest double-act,” but it won’t be happening. Promoter Dainty Group today confirmed the run was off.
The Pitbull & Ke$ha -- Live in Australia tour was due to start Oct. 30 at Brisbane Entertainment Centre, then play to Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena (Nov. 1), Adelaide Entertainment Centre (Nov. 3), Perth Arena (Nov. 5) and Sydney’s Allphones Arena (Nov. 8).
Ticket sales are believed to have been soft.
Pitbull used his Facebook page to spread the news, though neither party gave a firm reason. "Regrettably the Promoter is cancelling the Australian Tour, refunds will be available at point of purchase. We hope to return to Australia in the not too distant future,” he wrote.
The RCA labelmates and touring pair have just released a new single, “Timber.”

It’s been a wretched year for hip-hop shows Down Under, and this latest failed tour is just another in a long list of examples. The inaugural Movement fest -- five scheduled dates featuring Nas, 2 Chainz, Chiddy Bang, Joey Bada$$, Angel Haze, Spit Syndicate, Thundamentals and home-grown hip hop chart-toppers Bliss N Eso -- was canceled, and its rival Supafest, which would have featured T.I., Ne-Yo and 50 Cent, Akon, J. Cole, Waka Flocka Flame, Young Jeezy and others over four dates, announced its postponement until later this year.
Supafest had promised new dates would be announced for November, but none have been posted, and the fest’s website hasn’t been updated in months.
Also, organizers of the Sprung hip-hop festival canceled its Melbourne leg, which had been planned for Oct. 19, while the third edition of the boutique mini-fest Rap City has also been called off.
