PMK*BNC Adds VP, Boosts Role of Another (Exclusive)
Lionsgate veteran Jodie Magid Oriol is joining the PR firm, while Rachel Aberly is officially adding TV and awards to her responsibilities.
PMK*BNC has hired veteran publicist Jodie Magid Oriol as a vice president and expanded the role of vp Rachel Aberly, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned.
Magid Oriol, who most recently served as senior vp, theatrical publicity at Lionsgate, will be based in New York and work in Talent, as well as the new Entertainment Strategy & Development department, which the PR firm launched in March. The hiring is a nod to PMK*BNC's priority to synergize across its various practices on both coasts.
"I am thrilled to join [co-chair and CEO] Cindi Berger, [executive vps] Joy Fehily, Michael Donkis and the rest of the incredible team at PMK*BNC," said Magid Oriol, who worked on the publicity campaigns for Lionsgate's Hunger Games, Expendables and Saw franchises, as well as award-season films like Crash and movies by Tyler Perry. "I deeply admire their passion and strategic vision for both clients and the company, and am honored to become a part of such a smart, innovative and respected team."
Aberly's list of film publicist credits is extensive, from The River Wild and Romeo + Juliet to Safety Not Guaranteed, Silver Linings Playbook, Million Dollar Arm and McFarland. She also has become increasingly involved in television and awards campaigns, heading up below-the-line outreach for movies including Lincoln, 12 Years a Slave, Birdman, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Brooklyn, Youth, Bridge of Spies, Ex Machina and The Revenant.
"I am fascinated with the creative process and love to immerse myself with filmmakers and work closely with them to help craft and tell their stories," said Aberly. "I equally enjoy partnering with the press to share those stories with fans of film and television. Being able to continue collaborating with Marian Koltai-Levine and the film team, while expanding even more into multi-dimensional campaigns, is incredibly exciting."
This season, Aberly is working on Amazon Studios and Fox Searchlight's awards hopefuls. Based in Los Angeles, she also will travel to Toronto next month to represent The Limehouse Golem, Jackie, All I See Is You and The Oath. Her other clients include Apex Entertainment, Mandeville Films, Baltasar Kormakur, Beau Willimon, Lesli Linka Glatter, James Vanderbilt, Alexandre Aja, Kay Cannon, Nicole Perlman, Stephen Chin, Eric Heisserer and Erin Cressida Wilson.
"The role of a PMK*BNC publicist continues to evolve to reflect the scope of work of our incredibly creative and talented clients," Berger said Thursday in a statement. "We are strengthening the collaborative process so that we offer our clients the highest caliber of thought leadership in representation. Jodie and Rachel are integral to our vision for the future."
