Polish Broadcaster SPI Inks Deal for Disney Films
It will air Disney films on its networks in Central and Eastern Europe.
Polish broadcaster SPI has signed an agreement with Disney, securing first-run movie content that will play on its FilmBox channels in Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia.
"We are thrilled to work with Disney, world’s top provider of entertainment content," Berk Uziyel, executive director of Filmbox International Ltd., said in a statement.
"With the package filled with movie hits, popular TV series and iconic shows we’ve just acquired from Disney, FilmBox channels’ subscribers across [Central and Eastern Europe] will continue seeing new, remarkable content featuring unforgettable Disney characters, starring Hollywood most popular actors and telling heartwarming stories for viewers of all ages,” he added.
Among the titles SPI picked up from Disney are American Crime television series, animated movies Planes 2 and Big Hero 6, Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella and two installments of the Tinker Bell franchise.
SPI is planning to air those titles on FilmBox brand movie channels in Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and other Central and Eastern European countries, and also secured SVOD rights for the titles included in the deal.
SPI runs more than 30 FilmBox brand TV channels globally.
