"Mary Poppins" and "The Coast of Utopia" lead the nominations for the Outer Critics Circle Awards, the first of the season to acknowledge Broadway productions. The awards are administered by out-of-town critics and journalists that cover New York theater, and they honor both Broadway and Off-Broadway productions.

"Mary Poppins," the musical adaptation of the popular Disney movie, received 11 nods on Monday, including for Outstanding New Broadway Musical, Outstanding Actor in Musical (Gavin Lee), and Outstanding Actress in Musical (Ashley Brown). "The Coast of Utopia," Tom Stoppard's trilogy about the history of Russian philosophy and politics in the 19th century, received nine nominations, including for best new Broadway play and four in the acting categories: Outstanding Actor in a Play (Brian F. O'Byrne), Actress (Jennifer Ehle), Featured Actor (Billy Crudup), and Featured Actress (Martha Plimpton).

Other shows receiving multiple nominees are "Curtains" with six, "LoveMusik" and "Frost/Nixon" with five, and "Coram Boy" and "In the Heights" win four. "Spring Awakening," which recently received six nominations for the Lucille Lortel Awards, received three, including Outstanding New Broadway Musical.
