A debut novel by former porn actress Sasha Grey has come out in Russia. The publisher compared the book to Fifty Shades of Grey, even though there is no similarity between Grey's name and the Russian translation of EL James' novel.

The Russian publisher Eksmo said in a press release that Grey's erotic novel, The Juliette Society, is similar to Fifty Shades of Grey "in its artistic characteristics." The publisher added that it would be interested in continuing to work with Grey if the Russian translation of her novel is successful here.

The Juliette Society was released in the U.S. in May 2013 and was described by a critic for Grazia as "perfect for those needing a post-Fifty Shades fix."

Grey is fairly well-known in Russia. Two years ago, she came here to take part in a promotional drive from the Far East city of Vladivostok to Moscow.

Last month, her photo was used in an apparently fake Internet post about an allegedly brutal killing of a nurse who was with pro-Russian separatists in East Ukraine by Ukrainian military forces.

Grey said on her Twitter account that she was upset to see her photo used for "propaganda."
