Fred Segal is a fashion mecca for Hollywood A-listers across-the-board. On a given day anyone from the Beckhams to Emma Roberts, and Christina Aguilera to Rihanna can be spotted purchasing designer must-haves. The notorious store—with locations in Santa Monica and West Hollywood—is now opening the Fred Segal Lending Library at the hip Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel; but don’t expect to find old books.
The library features approximately 50 accessories for women, men, children and even pets (think the hottest jewelry, scarves, evening clutches, cufflinks and even reading glasses). Curated by Kirsten Segal, director of marketing and event planning for Fred Segal, the items are all on-loan for guests who purchase a suite at the hotel.
“When stocking the library, I thought of items I forgot to pack in the past and wished I had the opportunity to borrow from a hotel,” said Segal. “I focused on accessories because I felt guests would forget to bring those little details or would be more inclined to borrow something fun for the weekend that they didn’t already own.”
Although Segal has not revealed any of the designers featured in the library, the Fred Segal headquarters is home to high-end accessory designers such as Chloe, YSL and McQueen handbags, Nina Segal and Bettina Duncan jewelry, and Paul Smith and Oliver Peoples eyewear. The items on loan mirror the store’s selection of ultra-hip and luxe goods, and if borrowing turns to buying, the merchandise is available for purchase at the shop.
The library program begins Sept. 6.
