Kimora Lee Simmons hosted a launch party Sept. 27 for JustFabulous shoes (a member’s VIP website, where $39.95 a month buys subscribers on-trend shoes and bags recommended by JustFab style experts), after signing on as the site’s president and creative director. The entrepreneur—who debuted her Style network reality series Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane, which chronicles her fashion business and her family life, in 2007—has worked as the president and creative director of Phat Fashions and also has her own couture line KLS, which launched in 2007. The former model and mother of three, talked to THR about her fashion faves.
Some of my all time favorite designers are also my personal friends and I love being able to support them and wear them where I can. Chanel, Versace and Cavalli – they are my fashion staples. I love pairing classic pieces with something that has a bit of edge. I recently discovered a South African designer, Lalesso. It was during Cape Town fashion week and I fell in love with the designer's use of Kenyan prints with modern coloring.
FAVORITE PLACES TO SHOP:
I love my LA boutiques like Kitson and Fred Segal, but being the busy working mom, I have found myself turning to shopping online as well. This is why JustFab.com interested me so much. I love having the balance of expensive and affordable – the convenience of online shopping while also hitting the stores with my girls.
FAVORITE RECENT PURCHASE:
I recently splurged on an amazing Burberry black trench, which is going to be my fall staple. I also found a great dinner jacket that I can’t wait to wear to dinner with my husband [Djimon Hounsou].
FAVORITE TRAVEL ITEMS:
Lately I've been testing a prototype from my new skincare line Shinto Clinical - a hydrating toner called 'Watch Your Tone'. It is perfect to beat the dry air on a plane.
FAVORITE RED CARPET MOMENT:
Whenever everything fits the way it's supposed to. I love going to my husband's premieres - I'm always so proud and want to add a little extra 'oomph' to my look - just for him.
