Premiere Sky renamed after legal challenge
EmptyCOLOGNE, Germany -- Germany's leading pay TV group has changed the name of its new satellite service from Premiere Sky to Premiere Star following a legal challenge.
This month, a Berlin state court agreed with the U.K.'s British Sky Broadcasting that the original name was a violation of BSkyB's trademark.
Premiere AG, Germany's leading pay TV company, plans to launch the satellite service in September with a slate of at least 15 channels. Turner Broadcasting System was the first to sign up for the new service, licensing its specialty channels Boomerang, Cartoon Movie and Turner Movie Classics to Premiere Star.
