President Obama to Answer Questions on Live MTV Special
The 30-minute broadcast will air on Friday, Oct. 26.
Following Monday night’s final presidential debate in Boca Raton, Fla., President Obama will address young voters on MTV.
The network announced on Tuesday that the president will be featured in a live, 30-minute special to air on Friday, Oct. 26 at 5 p.m. ET. As part of MTV’s “Power of 12” election campaign, Obama will answer questions from the audience on ASK OBAMA LIVE: An MTV Interview with the President, with viewers submitting their questions and concerns via MTV’s Facebook page.

The move is an obvious attempt to secure the college vote, with 45 million 18-to-29-year-olds eligible to vote in this election, according to a release, making them the largest potential voting bloc in the country. This will mark the first time that either candidate had focused solely on young voter’s concerns, including jobs, the cost of college, rising student loan debt and social issues such as LGBT rights and immigration, on a nationally televised program.
MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway will sit down with Obama in the White House and Andrew Jenks will be on the ground at a Washington, D.C., college campus with a group of young voters.

MTV has also invited Mitt Romney to participate in a separate 30-minute special, and hopes to conduct a sitdown interview with him ahead of Election Day. An agreement has yet to be officially announced.
Obama previously addressed the concerns of young non-voters, appearing on Nickelodeon’s Kids Pick the President special on Oct. 15. Romney declined to participate in the special, citing scheduling conflicts.
