The best thing about Giuseppe Piccioni's "The Prize" is Valeria Golina's performance as Giulia, a prisoner on work release who teaches swimming while serving time for the murder of a lover. But the main character is Guido (Valerio Mastandrea), an acclaimed, married writer whose sterile home life is fertile ground for adultery, not artistic inspiration.
