Pro7 looking to offload Internet operations
Weather, info, travel sites could be among those on offerBERLIN -- ProSiebenSat.1 is looking at shedding several of its online subsidiaries as the Pan-European media group tries to weather the economic downturn.
While the company's official Web site, VOD operation Maxdome and video streaming portal MyVideo are off limits, other high-profile operations including weather portal wetter.com, information site wer-weiss-was.de and online travel site Reise.de are reportedly on the block.
ProSieben CEO Marcus Englert denied that the company is planning to sell popular social networking site Lokalisten.de, but ProSieben has indicated other "non-core operations" online could be dropped.
It is, however, a buyer's market. ProSieben has been unable to find anyone willing to pay top dollar for its female-focused portal Fem.com. Earlier this year, the company sold popular, and profitable, price-comparison site billiger.de for just €10 million ($13 million), less than the site's annual revenue.
