The Procrastinator's Guide to New Year's Eve in L.A.
It's not too late to make sure your 2016 starts off with a bang.
Whether your party plans have fallen through or you're just one of those people that likes to "live life on the edge" and wait until the absolute last minute to take action, we've got you covered this New Year's Eve.
From downtown soirees to beachside bars, there are still plenty of options for your New Year's Eve bash — meaning there's no excuse for passing out on the couch in front of the TV at 11:45 p.m. (And if you're feeling extra spontaneous, remember: Vegas is only a five hour drive.)
For Your Date Night
Try: New Year’s Eve at Hinoki & The Bird
The west side hot spot will be having Buenos Aires-themed bash and, good news, there's still some early evening seating available. A live DJ and decorations as well as a Buenos Aires-inspired menu brings the tropical theme to life.
10 Century Drive, Century City; 310-552-1200.
For NYE With the Fam
If you're spending time with the fam this New Year's, downtown's Grand Park will have a little something for everyone, including live music, art installations, food and, our personal favorite, photo booths. The (free!) event kicks off at 8 p.m. and wraps up at 1 a.m.
200 N. Grand Ave, Los Angeles
For a Flashback
Sure, the New Year is all about looking forward to the future, but sometimes, you just need a little '70s in your life. That's where Davey Wayne's New Year's bash comes in, complete with roller skaters, slushies and some requisite Fleetwood Mac. Early bird tickets to the "house party vibe" event are still available for $28.
1611 N El Centro Ave, Los Angeles
For The Big Shebang
Nothing says New Year's like an over-the-top fireworks display, which is exactly what you'll find at Burton Chace Park, which has prime views for catching the show above the Marina Del Rey harbor. The event kicks off with the New York City New Year's countdown broadcast on a jumbo screen at 8:59 p.m., followed by the ten minute fireworks show at 9 p.m.
3650 Mindanao Way, Marina Del Rey
For A New Year's to (Maybe Not) Remember
This "around the world" themed bar crawl kicks off at Spring St. bar downtown at 3 p.m. and offers a complementary cocktail every hour at the nine participating bars until midnight. Don't say we didn't warn you.
626 South Spring St., Los Angeles
For An Evening with the Squad
If you and the crew are looking for a budget-friendly option, group rate tickets are still available to the Venice Beach bash, which is hosted at the Venice Ale House & The Rose Room. The two venues have joined forces for the ultimate beach side party, featuring DJs and complementary party favors.
2 Rose Ave, Venice
