ProSieben sets up umbrella co. Red Arrow
German broadcaster bundles production, distribution assetsBERLIN -- Broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 has set up a new umbrella company – Red Arrow Entertainment Group – to bundle its various production and distribution companies across Europe.
Red Arrow's assets will include production firms Producers at Work, Magic Flight Film and RedSeven Entertainment, talent agency Redseven Artists and ProSieben's world sales arm SevenOne International. The multi-year format development agreement between ProSieben and "Deal or No Deal" co-creator Dick de Rijk as well as the two-year co-production deal between RedSeven Entertainment and Phil Gurin's The Gurin Company will also be part of Red Arrow's portfolio.
ProSieben CEO Thomas Ebeling said Red Arrow would acquire or sign co-op deals with production companies from across Europe to increase the supply of in-house produced shows and formats to the group's European TV network. ProSiebenSat.1 controls 20 free-to-air channels in 12 European countries.
ProSiebenSat.1 exec Jan Frouman, who was behind the de Rijk deal, will head up Red Arrow together with a team made up of international distribution head Jens Richter, creative operations and business development boss Michael Schmidt and John Jongerden, who will run finance and operations at Red Arrow.
Frouman and Richter will keep their day jobs, respectively, as evp of Group Content Acquisitions at ProSiebenSat.1 and managing director of SevenOne International.
