QuebeComm sells non-verbal TV series

Groupe TVA, Comedie network snag 'lOl:-)'

TORONTO -- French-speaking Quebec is well known for its non-verbal entertainment reaching worldwide, like the acrobatics and pantomimes of Cirque du Soleil and "Just For Laughs Gags," a hidden camera comedy series sold into 200 markets worldwide.
 
Now Montreal producer QuebeComm has sold its non-verbal TV series entitled "lOl:-)" to Quebec broadcaster Groupe TVA, and FarMore Distribution has secured additional sales to The Comedie network in France and Japan's Nippon Television.
 
"lOl:-)," an abbreviation of laugh-out-loud, comprises over 1000 comic mini-clips, lasting 30 seconds to two minutes, or around 39 half-hours of visual entertainment to be produced over the next three years.
 
The comedy clips will be shot in HD and have their own soundtrack.
 
The series was created by Pierre Paquin, Denis Savard and Daniel Michaud.

QuebeComm and Groupe TVA will start the international rollout of "lOl:-)" at MIPCOM.
