Amy Nadine — cofounder of The Beauty Department and makeup artist to Bilson, Lauren Conrad and Anna Paquin — has released a nude eye shadow palette that will have you ready for the red carpet (and beyond).

Urban Decay’s iconic Naked palette ($54) — now produced in three versions — has some new competition and it’s in the form of a very pretty quad, Renewing Nude Eyeshadow Palette ($40), created by top celebrity makeup artist and The Beauty Department cofounder Amy Nadine. It debuts this week at Costco and on Beauty’s Most Wanted, but already Rachel Bilson and Susan Sarandon are converts.

"I knew if I was ever lucky enough to make my own palette there were three things it had to accomplish," says Nadine. "1. It was infused with antioxidants and extracts to help work with skin care instead of against it. 2. It had the same color payoff as if I had first wet the brush. And 3. When applied in the morning it was still there when you looked at the mirror at dinner."

Those unexpected ingredients she made sure were featured in the formula: "Bamboo silk, a softening agent that gives my shadows their silky texture and satin feel, bilberry seed oil (to replenish the skin barrier), red raspberry seed, which nourishes with antioxidants and clover flower extract, a conditioner that improves skin texture." All this means your shadow might actually not age your delicate eye skin as much — and it won't settle into the fine lines, crease or wear off after a couple hours.

Though she's used probably thousands of shadows in the course of her long career, Nadine felt "some of the nude palettes were just a little too boring for me — sorry!" She’s working on other shades for spring, but in the meantime she’s used the Copper shade in Bilson’s creases and the Teak shade on her lower lash line for a Chanel event last week, as well as the Mineral shade on How to Get Away With Murder’s Karla Souza for a party.

And she combined all four colors for an Entertainment Weekly shoot with Susan Sarandon. Says Nadine, "They really look amazing on her — particularly with her hair color." Her expert tip? "I apply them with my fingers because they are screaming to be touched and smeared across the lid. The finish is softly mattifying yet very alive."
