Rachel Bloom and Adam Pally are set to lead Most Likely to Murder, a mystery-comedy acquired by Lionsgate, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The stars of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Making History, respectively, will also produce the film with Petra Ahmann. Dan Gregor will direct from a script he co-wrote with Doug Mand, his writing partner on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Mand, who will also appear in the pic, is an executive producer with Gregor.
Lionsgate acquired the title through Lionsgate Digital Studio, which aims to produce low-budget features and episodic series. Production is scheduled to begin next month in New York.
Described by Gregor and Mand as "Rear Window for stoners," Most Likely to Murder centers on Billy (Pally), who was once the most popular kid in high school but returns to his hometown 10 years later to discover that he’s no longer cool and the girl he still cares for is now dating the former class outcast. When her new beau's mother dies under mysterious circumstances, Billy tries to prove she was actually murdered.
Bloom and Pally are repped by UTA and 3 Arts.
