Rainbow, GSN, Sundance set plentiful table
Jennifer Caserta has been named executive vp and general manager of fuse, overseeing day-to-day operations of the music television network and working to expand its programming across multiple platforms. Caserta, who was senior vp marketing at Rainbow's IFC, will report to Rainbow Entertainment Services president Ed Carroll. She also has served as vp ad sales marketing at Court TV, among other positions.
Meanwhile, WE announced a new series, "Wife, Mom, Bounty Hunter," centering on former female wrestler Sandra Scott, owner of Old West Bail Bonds in Phoenix, and her family. The show, from World of Wonder and exec producers Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, is set to premiere in April.
In addition, WE said that the two-hour special "Women on Death Row 2" will debut at 9 p.m. Feb. 26, while "The Secret Lives of Women" will return for a third season at 10 p.m. May 8 with 10 new episodes.
GSN, meanwhile, announced a production and development slate comprising a diverse range of series and specials. Among them is "Without Prejudice?" which is in production. The show, based on a U.K. series on Channel 4 that was created by 12 Yard Prods., features a panel of "ordinary" people who are given the chance to award one of five contestants a large sum of money.
Among the shows in development is "Grand Slam," a rapid-fire question-and-answer game show that "pits 16 of the greatest American game show contestants against each other in head-to-head competitions." It's from exec producer Michael Davies and Sony Pictures Television.
GSN also has ordered a sixth season of "Lingo" -- marking the first time it has picked up a show for a sixth season -- that will premiere April 2. It also has renewed "Chain Reaction" for a second season debuting at 10 p.m. March 13.
In addition, GSN's first-ever "National Vocabulary Championship" debuts at 8 p.m. April 15, while "Cat-Minster: CFA International Cat Championship" premieres at 8 p.m. March 27.
Sundance Channel announced "Big Ideas for a Small Planet," a 13-part original series that will anchor the network's upcoming environmental programming block "The Green," which launches at 9 p.m. April 17. "Big Ideas," from Scout Prods., is a documentary series that spotlights a different innovator or innovation that "has the potential to transform our everyday lives" in every episode. Each episode of "Big Ideas" will be paired with the premiere of a similarly themed documentary.
Sundance Channel also said that "Iconoclasts" has been greenlighted for a third season that will debut in October.
