PAULA'S SAME OLD SONG: The TV upfronts and their subsequent parties left execs and media bleary-eyed -- but they aren't the only ones. The show might change, but Paula Abdul stays the same. At the Fox presentation May 16 in New York, Abdul appeared onstage with Simon Cowell to promote their fall show The X Factor. After Simon shilled the talent competition to Madison Avenue, he said Paula wanted to say something. Pause. The always glassy-eyed Abdul gave her best deer-in-the-headlights look and finally coughed up, "I love you, Simon." Neither turned up at the Fox party afterward.
Agent Gives Good Rap
There was predictable celebrity participation at the UNICEF Playlist With the A-List karaoke charity event May 18 at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles: Jack Black belting Black Sabbath and Desperate Housewives house-husbands Doug Savant, James Denton and Kyle MacLachlan knocking over the prompter during "Sweet Home Alabama." But the night's surprise was Paradigm movie-lit agent Scott Henderson (who reps the writer and the director of the Saw series). Fresh from work in his crisp black suit, he leaped onstage with pal Bill Bellamy and belted out "Rapper's Delight." "Yeah, weird -- a white guy in a suit," Henderson tells THR. "But I've been rehearsing that song since I was 15! Bellamy said, 'Dude, you knocked it out of the park!' "
Aniston's New York Salon
Why would $800-a-cut superstar hairstylist Sally Hershberger ($900 in Dubai) sell her too-good-to-be-true Greenwich Village Art Deco apartment of 10 years to Jennifer Aniston for $5 million? "It had to be a compelling offer for me to sell it, and it was," Hershberger says of the sale, which was a pocket listing -- not formally listed, even with brokers. "Eventually, that's all I want to do: real estate, architecture, design. I discovered I have a talent for finding places that make money." And running salons that make money.
